The day dawns clear.

The story so far

House into shed, tenant into house, car sold, Brisbane / Sydney / Joburg / Durban / Seaforth Farm B&B / Howick / Impangele B&B / Glengarry (repeat) arrival of 19 family members from 5 countries / braai and beers / wine Savanna (repeat x2)

So the final tally is Mom, Denise, Llew,Annette, Richard, Jenny, Marilyn, Patrick, Kylie,Lisa, Warren,Dylan, Kathleen, Garren, Jenni, Jordan, Noah, Erin and  Marshall. They came in from the UK, Majorca, Australia and Dubai. There were also a strong local contingent. So 19 people over 4 generations.

Unfortunately there were many who could not make it. They know who they are and they were missed.

The birthday girl.

The night before the celebrations was a whirlwind of activity as cakes were baked, decorated and the Evans cottage decked out in appropriate finery benefiting the occasion. The final result was magnificent and maximum kudos to the ladies for making the magic happen. The men sat around, drank beer and supervised – hey Kylie!

Decorations – magnificent.

The layout was superb.

Hopefully the pictures do justice to the work that went into the decorations.

Behind the scenes (it was more than just a birthday party after all) there were many drinks drunk, stories told and new friends made around the communal braai ( no – this is Africa so it is a braai) It is amazing how time flies and how far The family has spread.

The hikes around here are amazing and different groups set off at different times with Garren and Jenni electing to run the tracks. There were some close encounters with the local snakes, mainly rinkhals (spitting cobra) which caused some local whirlwinds of emotion and sound.
